Ports tycoon Enrique Razon has refuted false claims against President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. that investors have lost confidence in the Philippines.
“Hindi totoo yun. Kung meron mang gumagawa ng ganun, bahala na sila sa buhay nila. Kami nag-iinvest,” Razon said in an interview on the country’s investment climate.
He also praised the Marcos administration for creating a business-friendly environment, particularly in the energy sector, which is a contrast to the investment climate in the previous administration.
“Ngayon, naglalagay sila ng mga policy. Dati wala, kung anu-ano na lang. Ngayon nagtatayo sila ng framework para sa tamang policy para maayos lahat ng problema,” the Filipino billionaire pointed out.
“Ang investment sa energy, matagal. Malaking pera ‘yan, kaya hindi basta basta bukas, o next year, o kaya dalawang taon. Mga five to seven years, kaya paspasan nila ‘yung energy policies sa pagbukas ng market,” he added.
Razon also emphasized the importance of the President’s investment policies, which are crucial for the Philippines given its vulnerability to global crises like the Ukraine war.
“Noong ininvade ng Russia ang Ukraine, tumaas ng 500% ang LNG (liquefied natural gas). Exposed tayo dyan. Kailangan mag-invest sa sarili nating oil and gas,” he pointed out.
“Kaya kami nag-decide mag-invest nang malaki, kasi nakikita namin na ang policy na inilalagay ni BBM (for the last two years) ay makakabuti sa investment environment.”IMT
