The Philippines will stand firm against China’s aggression in the West Philippine Sea (WPS), President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. said Thursday, Feb. 6, as he vowed to protect the country’s territorial integrity and interests.

Speaking at a Palace presser, Marcos Jr. said the Philippines’ policy remains unchanged despite China’s naval advantage and the prolonged presence of a Chinese “monster ship” in the area.

“Ano bang mission ng Coast Guard? Ano bang mission ng Navy? To protect the territorial integrity of the Philippines. So, that’s what they do. They will continue to do that no matter what any other foreign power does,” he also said.

The Presidenrt reaffirmed that Philippine vessels will patrol WPS to ensure Filipino fishermen can exercise their sovereign rights.

“We will always be there making sure our fishermen are able to exercise their sovereign rights,” he said.

Marcos Jr. also warned that any foreign vessel nearing Philippine waters will be challenged and reminded of its illegal actions.IMT
