The town of Oton is now experiencing a surge in coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases, according to the Provincial Health Office (PHO).
The PHO reported 167 new COVID-19 cases on Tuesday, June 22.
Oton accounted for the highest number of the newly recorded infections at 37, followed by Miagao, 19; Santa Barbara, 18, San Joaquin and Tigbauan, 13 each; Guimbal,11; Barotac Nuevo and Passi City, 6 each; Calinog and Pavia, 5 each; Alimodian, 4; Dumangas, Carles and Ajuy, 3 each; and Dingle, Janiuay, San Miguel, New Lucena, and Leganes, 2 each.
San Enrique, Pototan, Estancia, San Dionisio, Balasan, Leon, Zarraga, Tubungan, San Rafael, Maasin, and Lemery posted one new case each.
These additional infections brought the province’s total caseload to 10,924, including 8,182 recoveries, 276 deaths, and 2,466 active cases.
Of the total cases recorded by the PHO since the pandemic started in March last year, 950 came from Oton, 938 from Passi City, 737 from Pavia, 548 from Santa Barbara, 466 from Miagao, 427 from Guimbal, 360 from San Joaquin, 333 from Sara, 331 from Pototan, 310 from Calinog.
Oton’s COVID-19 infection count include 733 recoveries, 19 deaths, and 198 active cases.IMT
