Migrant Workers Secretary Hans Cacdac assured the safety of Filipinos in Bangladesh amid the ongoing unrest in the South Asian country.
“Wala tayong migrant workers office in Bangladesh, but we do have an embassy,” Cacdac said in a news forum over the weekend.
“So far, safe and sound ang around 700 Filipinos in Bangladesh,” he added.

At least 200 people were reportedly killed and thousands injured in the protests that have erupted in Bangladesh since July 18.
Protesters are calling for reforms in the government’s quota system that reserves government jobs for specific groups. The system reserves 56 percent of government jobs for relatives of veterans.IMT
