The Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) has debunked social media posts about an alleged series of kidnapping incidents in the province.
IPPO director Police Colonel Bayani Razalan “urged the public to refrain from spreading unverified information, as it can lead to unnecessary panic and reactions.”
“Parents are encouraged to teach their children to be cautious about information from unreliable sources, particularly on social media,” he added.
Razalan emphasized the importance of veryfing information before reacting or sharing it online.
“Let us all take responsibility for our actions and consider their impact on others,” he said.
The IPPO director directed all unit commanders in the province to coordinate with school heads to educate students on the use of social media platforms to avoid the spread false information.
“We are committed to raising public awareness about the dangers of believing and spreading fake news,” Razalan said.
“Your Ilonggo police are here, ready to provide our services to ensure the safety and security of our community,” he assured.IMT
