The Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) is closely monitoring the ongoing investigations on the series of killings in the province.
Police Senior Master Sergeant Francisco Lindero Jr., IPPO spokesperson, said all police stations were already directed to step up their anti-crime operations.
“We assure the public that we are on top of the peace and order situation in the province,” he added.
Specifically, the IPPO ordered an aggressive campaign against loose firearms and an intensified police visibility and patrol operations, especially in crime-prone areas.
The police office will also strengthen its intelligence monitoring to prevent lawless elements from carrying out criminal activities.
The IPPO appealed to public to help security forces by immediately reporting suspicious persons or activities to authorities.
On Sept. 10, Wilson Gait, chief security of NBMD Security Agency, was shot dead by four armed men in the waters of Barangay Bito-on in the town of Carles.
Gait and his four fellow security guards withdrew P320,000 for the salary of employees on Sicogon Island.
On Sept. 14, three Iloilo City-based businessmen aboard a car were killed in Barangay Villa Panian, Estancia town.
The victims were identified as Jan Paul Mark Bosque, 28, of Barangay Lopez Jaena Sur, Lapuz, Iloilo City; Chrysler Floyd Fernandes, 27, of Barangay Jereos, La Paz, Iloilo City; and Mark Clarenz Libao, 24, of Jaro, Iloilo City.
On the following day, a delivery van driver died while his two companions were wounded in a robbery incident in Lambunao town.
The fatality was Jerry Faldas of Passi City. He suffered fatal gunshot wounds on his chest and head.IMT
