After four days of power outage, electricity services in the province of Iloilo have been fully restored.
Distribution utilities energized all their feeders at 12:35 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 5, following the synchronization of Palm Concepcion Power Corporation’s (PCPC) 135-megawatt (135-MW) coal-fired power plant to the grid.
In its advisory, the Iloilo Electric Cooperative (ILECO I) said: “For areas that are still experiencing power [interruptions], please send us a message so we could respond to it [at the soonest time possible].”
“Our lineworkers [are] on standby [so they can immediately respond] to your technical concerns,” it further said.
ILECO II, meanwhile, thanked its consumers for their “understanding and cooperation during these challenging times.”
“However, please be advised that in the event that the power supply becomes unstable, ILECO II may resume the rotational brownouts without prior notice,” it said.
In a Facebook post, ILECO III stated: “Madamo gid nga salamat sa paghangup.”
The power outage hit the province and other parts of Western Visayas were on Tuesday, Jan. 2.
According to the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP), the massive outage was due to the tripping of three major power plants in Panay Island.
The electric cooperatives implemented rotational brownouts throughout their respective coverage areas due to the limited power supply.IMT
