Private sector employees in Western Visayas can expect a slight increase in their wages before the end of 2024.
The Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board (RTWPB-6) unanimously approved a wage increase ranging from P33 to P40 per day.
Workers in private establishments with more than 10 employees will get a P33 (from 480 to 513) increase while those in establishments with 10 or fewer employees will receive a P35 hike (from P450 to P485).
Agricultural workers will get an increase of P40. This translates to increased minimum wage rate of P480 from P440.
Domestic workers or kasambahays will also receive an increase of P1,000. This will bring their monthly wage rate to P6,000.
The wage hike, which covers workers in Aklan, Antique, Capiz, Guimaras, Iloilo and Negros Occidental, is expected to be implemented in the last week of November or in the first week of December.
Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE-6) regional director Sixto Rodriguez Jr. said the pay hike is still subject to the final approval of the National Wages and Productivity Commission (NWPC).
Once approved by NWPC, the new wage rates will be published in a newspaper of general circulation.IMT
