Iloilo City’s Office of the Prosecutor has recommended the filing of a grave coercion case against Belinda V. Dinopol, retired principal of Jaro National High School.

In a resolution, Inquest Prosecutor Victoria Heler said “all the elements of coercion are attendant to this case.”

“There is facie evidence with reasonable certainty of conviction that the respondent, Belinda V. Dinopol could be indicted of the crime of Grave Coercion punishable under Article 286 of the Revised Penal Code as amended by Section 72 of RA 10951.”

Meanwhile, the prosecutor dismissed the human trafficking and child labor complaints filed against the respondent due to insufficient evidence.

The complaints were lodged by the two siblings (Gerardo Valentin and Rosale Valentin) and mother (Hermina Valentin) of Dinopol’s helper (Jolean Valentin) who died by suicide in July 2023.

The Valentin family, in their affidavits, accused Dinopol the retired public school principal of maltreating Jolean.

“Galain gid akon buot sa nadangtan ni Jolean. Kon nabal-an ko lang nga amo man lang na kalain ang ila pagtratar sa kay Jolean wala ko nalang siya tani ginpasugtan mag-ubra kanday Ma’am Dinopol maskin indi siya makatapos sa pag-eskwela importante buhi siya kag kaupod namon,” said Hermina.IMT
