Senate President Francis Escudero has urged transport and justice officials to clean up their ranks at airports nationwide to improve the country’s image for both local and international visitors.
This comes after the dismissal of security personnel involved in the “tanim-bala” (bullet planting) scheme.
Escudero lauded newly appointed Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon for swiftly taking action against three employees from the Office of Transportation Security.
These employees allegedly victimized a 69-year-old woman and her family before their flight to Vietnam, with no bullet or casing found in their belongings.
This purge, he added, should lead to broader reforms aimed at improving the country’s main airports.
With a new transportation secretary in place and the privatization of airport operations under the New NAIA Infra Corp., there’s an opportunity to transform the country’s image and enhance traveler experiences, the Senate leader said.
“This is long overdue,” said Escudero.IMT
