The Iloilo City Government has decided to suspend the quick response (QR) code registration for both residents and non-residents due to technical issues.
Francis Cruz, Mayor Jerry Treñas’ executive assistant for information technology (IT), said their website was “overwhelmed” by registrants who want to get their own QR codes.
On the first day of registration, Nov.16, the city government recorded 23,000 registrants. The number went up to 38,000 on the following day.
Cruz said many of those who visited the website (www.uswagtracer.com) experienced problems in the registration process.
The website remained inaccessible on Wednesday morning, Nov. 18.
A notice that appears on the webpage when attempted to be visited reads: “Due to huge volume of people registering, we temporarily [stopped] our registration process for individuals until such time that we have completed the verification of those currently registered.”
Cruz said they are currently working to resolve the issues and to make the process easier and faster.
The use of QR codes will be required when entering business establishments and offices in Iloilo City to “easily trace” those persons possibly exposed to the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).IMT
