Ilongga beauty queen Rabiya Mateo asked for continued support from the public as she enters a new chapter in her life.
“Well, Rabiya Mateo as a beauty queen is saying goodbye for now but I am excited to try my chances in show business,” said Mateo.
“I want to try hosting and acting soon. To my supporters, I hope you’re still there in the next chapter,” she added.
Mateo bid farewell and took her final walk as the reigning Miss Universe Philippines on Thursday, Sept. 30.
She thanked her mother and supporters for believing in her.
“Everything is possible as long as we put our hearts and minds into it,” said Mateo.
“I want to be remembered as somebody who gave her everything to make the Filipinos proud. I am Rabiya Mateo, Miss Universe Philippines 2020.”
During her final walk at the coronation night of the Miss Universe Philippine 2021 pageant, Mateo lost her balance on stage but she managed to stand right away.
“Once you fall, you have to stand up,” she said.
Mateo passed on the crown to Beatrice Luigi Gomez of Cebu City.
In October last year, Mateo was crowned Miss Universe Philippines. She became the country’s official representative to the Miss Universe pageant in Florida in May.IMT
