From the Hiligaynon words ‘saulog’ which means ‘celebrate’ and ‘taliambong’ which means ‘art’, the online event will showcase various works and performances of the artistic members of the RCHAC. These include dance, music, theatre and literary pieces of Ana Divinagracia-Sartorio School of Performing Arts, Capiz Singing Ambassadors of the Capiz Provincial Government, Iloilo Prima Galaw Theatre and Dance Company, and The Performance Laboratory.

Cecile Guidote-Alvarez, a Ramon Magsaysay Outstanding Asian Awardee for Public Service (1972) and President Emeritus of the International Theatre Institute-Philippine Centre, will grace the online event as keynote speaker to discuss the importance of culture and arts in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals and in helping the Filipinos recover from the pandemic.

Saulog Taliambong will also feature a special screening of the short film ‘Bawod’ by award-winning Ilonggo film director and cinematographer TM Malones, also an RCHAC private sector member. Written by Joseph Israel Laban, Bawod tells the story of a 12-year-old girl in a small rural village in Iloilo as she faces the realities of poverty and the ominous vision of a ghostly man. Bawod won the 2017 Cinemalaya Balanghai Award for Best Screenplay in a short film.
