A 23-year-old registered nurse from Barangay Jereos, La Paz district was elected president of the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Federation in Iloilo City.
Jelma Crystel Implica, who ran unopposed, garnered a total votes of 160. She replaced Leila Luntao of Barangay Our Lady of Lourdes in Jaro district.
Other newly elected officers of the SK Federation were Julienne Jeanjaquet of Barangay Arguelles as vice president; Jason Octavio of Barangay Hibao-an Norte, secretary; Raisen Benedict from Barangay Boulevard, treasurer; Yanni Ysabel Panaguiton of Barangay Obrero, auditor; John Paul Elmar of Barangay Zamora Melliza as public relations officer; and Mike Elumba from Barangay Sto. Domingo as sergeant-at-arms.
They took their oath of office before Mayor Jerry P. Treñas after the election on Tuesday, Nov. 14, which was presided over by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG-Iloilo City).
Implica will join the Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) as an ex-officio member.
In a media interview, Implica thanked her fellow SK chairpersons for supporting her and vowed to come up with other projects and programs for the youth apart from basketball leagues.
Meanwhile, City Mayor Jerry P. Treñas committed to set aside an initial budget of P1 million for the federation.IMT
