The rehabilitation of the historic Plaza Libertad in Iloilo City will go full blast early next year, according to Mayor Jerry P. Treñas.

Ginasaylu na naton ang mga tanom diri sa plaza kay sa malapit nalang nga panahon, ang ining Plaza Libertad paga-ubrahon na ini,” said Treñas.

The rehabilitation of the plaza is one of the projects identified for funding under the Department of Budget and Management’s (DBM) “Green, Green, Green” assistance program.

Treñas noted that the city government had already received the P19-million fund for the project.

Since the rehabilitation entails a total fund of P30 million, the mayor said he asked the City Treasurer’s Office to look for the remaining P11 million.

The rehabilitation is expected to be completed within 2021.
