Works to repair the defective Ungka Flyover in Pavia, Iloilo will begin after the celebration of Iloilo City’s Dinagyang Festival in January next year, according to former senator Franklin Drilon.
“They are going to start the [repair works], upon my request, after the Dinagyang,” Drilon said in an interview on Tuesday, Dec. 12.
He told reporters that an initial amount of P100 million for the repair of the P680-million flyover “has already been released.”
The bidding for the flyover’s rectification opened on Nov. 28. Seven contractors, including International Builders Corporation (IBC), joined the bidding.
The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) requested a total of P341 million for the repair.
The four-lane Ungka Flyover is one of the four flyovers lobbied by Drilon before he retired from politics in 2022.IMT
