Senator Risa Hontiveros clarified on Friday, July 19, that she’s not “fixated” on Bamban Mayor Alice Guo, saying she’s only allergic to lies.
“Huwag kayong mag-alala, hindi kami fixated sa’yo. Allergic lang kami sa mga sinungaling,” Hontiveros said in a July 19, 2024 statement.
She was reacting to Guo’s latest Facebook post asking why the senator seemed obsessed with her.
“Mayor Alice Guo o Guo Hua Ping, mas marami pa kayong post sa Facebook kaysa sa attendance sa Senate hearing. Attendance before the Senate hearings is adherence to the rule of law,” the lady solon said.
Last week, Guo filed a petition before the Supreme Court asking to annul the subpoena issued by the Senate Committee on Women, Children, Family Relations and Gender Equality against her.
The panel has been investigating her citizenship and alleged links to illegal offshore gaming operations since May.
Hontiveros also asserted that embattled mayor lied about her involvement in illegal POGO activities in her province and details of her personal life.
“Paano ka magkakaroon ng peace of mind kung palagi ka na lang iiwas sa mga tanong?… Kada log-in mo sa Facebook, may bago ka na namang iniimbento,” she pointed out.
Meanwhile, Guo asserted that she’s ready to face the allegations against her “in a fair trial and at a proper forum.”IMT
