Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio was all praises for Iloilo City, citing its achievements, awards and recognitions.
“Alam niyo po we always look up to Iloilo City as mayor of Davao City dahil alam niyo po lagi kaming natatalo [ng Iloilo City] sa lahat ng recognitions at awards,” Carpio said on Tuesday, Dec. 14
“Bike lanes natalo kami. Sa digital tourism natalo din kami, third lang kami. Number one ang Iloilo City. Ako at ang aking administrator ng Davao City we always benchmark the Iloilo dahil always looking for innovative ways to serve the public,” she further said.
Carpio was in the city to meet with her Ilonggo party mates and supporters. She is running for vice president in the 2022 elections.
City Mayor Jerry Treñas thanked Carpio for her “kind words.”
“I am very pleased that a fellow public servant, Mayor Sara, has recognized our tireless initiative to ensure that we give the best for our beloved people despite the challenges brought by the pandemic,” he said.
According to Treñas, both Iloilo and Davao are remarkable cities in terms of socio-economic development.
