The Supreme Court (SC) has assured that artificial intelligence (AI) will not be used in the judiciary without human supervision.
“Artificial Intelligence will never be deployed in our courts unless there is a human that supervises it,” Senior Associate Justice Marvic Leonen said during the inauguration of the Hall of Justice in Baguio City.
Leonen issued the remark as he rallied support for eCourt Project version 2, an initiative to digitize and speed up court processes.
eCourt is an automated case management information system that aims to help trial court judges in the country.
It allows lawyers and litigants to view their case details on a screen, including the assigned court and judge, as well as updates on motions, pleadings, and upcoming hearings.
“The application is already available; we are just testing it in Padre Faura,” the SC justice said.
The Court is eyeing to pilot at least 20 trial courts across the country this year.IMT
