Low-cost carrier Scoot landed its inaugural direct flight from Singapore to the Iloilo International Airport on Monday, April 14.
The aircraft, which carried 107 passengers, arrived in Iloilo 5:35 a.m. It was welcomed with a water cannon salute—a tradition held for inaugural flights.
Scoot’s flight to Singapore left at 6:10 a.m. with 103 passengers.
The new route “reinforces Iloilo’s role as a regional gateway and is expected to boost tourism and economic activity in Western Visayas, according to the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP).
“CAAP continues to work closely with aviation partners to promote regional growth while upholding the highest standards of safety and service,” it said.
Scoot is one of the wholly owned subsidiaries of Singapore Airlines (SIA).IMT
