Senator Imee R. Marcos visited the Province of Antique, particularly in the Municipality of Hamtic, where she met the local officials, teachers, supporters and children of Hamtic Central School.
She was welcomed by Governor Rhodora J. Cadiao, Mayor Julius Ronald Pacificador, municipal mayors from the different towns and local officials of Hamtic.
DSWD-6 regional director lawyer Carmelo N. Nochete was also with the team who welcomed the senator and facilitated the distribution of DSWD-Aid to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) worth P6.225 million for 2,075 beneficiaries at P3,000 each.
The AICS beneficiaries are from different towns of the province.
During the program at the Hamtic covered court, Senator Marcos lauded the resiliency of the Antiqueños having coped with the impact of the recent disaster and coronavirus pandemic.
She also pledged to support all the municipal mayors present to help in the recovery of their towns after the devastation of severe tropical storm “Paeng.”
Marcos likewise promised to support the rehabilitation/construction of infrastructure projects damaged during the severe tropical storm “Paeng” with Senator Loren Legarda at the frontline working for the welfare of the Antiqueños.
In a separate program at the Hamtic Central School, she distributed the nutribuns to kids noting that this program was initiated by her mother Imelda Romualdez Marcos when she was then the first lady under the Presidency of Ferdinand E. Marcos Sr.
She emphasized that the nutribun distribution was implemented to ensure children will have good nutrition so they could go strong, tall and intelligent.
The Senator also expressed her eagerness to be back in Antique, particularly in Hamtic, saying that the Marcoses had a good number of supporters in the locality.
It can be noted that the ties between the Pacificadors and the Marcoses can be traced to the martial law years. Vice mayor Julius, the father of now Mayor Julius Ronald Pacificador, was a staunch supporter of the Marcoses way back then.JBG/PSM/PIA-Antique
