A total of 83 service and repair enterprises (SREs) in Iloilo have yet to renew their accreditation, according to the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).
These SREs are given only until January 31 this year to process their applications for the renewal of their certificates of accreditation, said Judy Mae Sajo, DTI-6 information officer.
A 25% surcharge and administrative fees would apply if their accreditation was not renewed by the deadline, she added.
Of the 83 SREs, 43 are motor vehicle repair shops, 26 are refrigeration and air-conditioning repair shops, 2 are electrical shops, 8 are electronics repair shops, 2 are engineering machine shops, 1 heavy equipment shop and 1 office machine and data processing equipment shop.
Under Presidential Decree 1572, all SREs are required to apply and renew their accreditation to provide consumers a protection that could grant them a service warranty of at least 90 days.IMT
