Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) No.1 has been hoisted over the northern and eastern portions of Iloilo due to Tropical Storm Dante.
The towns that belong to the province’s northern and eastern portions are Anilao, San Enrique, Passi City, Bingawan, Banate, Barotac Viejo, San Rafael, Ajuy, Lemery, Sara, Concepcion, San Dionisio, Batad, Estancia, Carles, Balasan, Calinog, Lambunao, Dueñas, and Dingle.
Based on its 2 a.m. weather bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said Dante was already in the vicinity of Cataingan, Masbate.
The tropical storm was moving north-northwestward at a speed of 25 kilometers per hour (kph).
It was packing maximum sustained winds of 65 kph and gusts of up to 90 kph.
PAGASA also raised TCWS No.1 over Capiz, Aklan, the northern portion of Antique (Caluya, Libertad, Pandan, and Sebaste), and the northern portion of Negros Occidental (Calatrava, Victorias City, Manapla, Sagay City, Cadiz City, Toboso, City of Escalante, Enrique B. Magalona, and Silay City).
Moderate to heavy with at times intense rains will prevail over Negros Occidental, Aklan, Capiz, the northern portion of Antique, the northern and eastern portions of Iloilo, according to the state weather bureau.
These areas will also experience strong winds (strong breeze to near gale), “which may cause generally very light damage to structures and vegetation.”IMT
