Multiple criminal charges were filed against the president of the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Federation in the town of San Miguel, Iloilo.
Mikhael Khalil Tadifa, according to the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG-6), was arrested and charged for violation of Republic Act (RA) 10591, RA 9516, and RA 9165.
RA 10591 is the law that regulates ownership and possession of all kinds of firearms and ammunition while RA 9516 regulates the manufacture, distribution and possession of explosives.
Meanwhile, RA 9165 prohibits the sale, manufacture and use of dangerous drugs and its forms in the country.
Through a search warrant issued by the Iloilo City Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 25, CIDG-6 and Philippine National Police (PNP) personnel raided the house of Tadifa in Barangay 11, San Miguel on Friday, Sept. 30.
Police Major Jess Baylon of CIDG-6 said they confiscated a caliber .45 pistol, 10 pieces of live ammunition, two live ammunition for a caliber .38 revolver, four empty shells from a caliber .38 revolver, an empty shell for a caliber .357, a knife, a holster, seven empty sachets with residues of suspected shabu, drug paraphernalia, and a hand grenade.
Tadifa, who also serves as ex-officio member of the Sangguniang Bayan of San Miguel, is currently detained at the police station of the town.
The 24-year-old elected official is also facing a frustrated murder charge after he allegedly stormed the house of Dyezrelle Malaygay and shot the latter on Aug. 13 this year.
Fortunately, Malaygay only suffered minor injuries.
Tadifa was also involved in another shooting incident in August 2020 where he allegedly fired his gun at a punong barangay.
San Miguel police chief Major Sullen Domingo said no case was filed against Tadifa following an amicable settlement.IMT
