Playing like well-oiled machines, St. Robert’s International Academy (SRIA) Panda Rockets outplayed Iloilo Doctor’s College in ILOPRISAA secondary boys’ basketball Game 2, 67-54 at the Hua Siong Ledesco Gym over the weekend.

Stepping up in the game, the boys of Coach John Guanco showed the entire repertoire to complete a clean sweep this year. Kyle Sardon, Michsan Onate, Paul Jovan Santome, Jhon Rey Alarcon, and Rio John Doronilla steered the team, not allowing the IDC dribblers to stage a comeback for a Game 3 finale.

Also part of the Panda Rockets team are Luke John Rose, Nike Gadong, Shaun Arnold Gumela, Airez John Macadangdang, Rusell Clib Puga, Derrick Suspena, and Ace Maestral.

To recall, the Panda Rockets also won the Game 1 series against IDC, 74-59. According to team manager, Eugene Chua, he’s happy to claim the championship and to represent the province in the Integrated meet.

“This is our first ILOPRISAA secondary boys’ title. It was a total team effort from the coaches to the players. Dati we only settle for runner-up finishes, but our players really stepped up our preparation, even during the off season,” he added.

The Panda Rockets finished the elimination round undefeated before they blasted Angelicum School of Iloilo, 71-56, in their semifinal duel last week. With the victory, the team will gear up for their next tournament, heading to the regional meet.IMT Sports
