Several dozen houses were damaged in Iloilo City due to strong winds and rough waves caused by Typhoon “Carina.”
As of 10 p.m. on Monday, July 22, a total of 43 damaged houses were recorded by the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO).
Most or 26 of the affected houses were partially wrecked while 17 were totally destroyed, displacing 104 families or 274 individuals.
These houses were situated in the villages of Boulevard (29), Calumpang (4) and San Juan (3) in Molo district, and in Barangay Maria Clara (7) in City Proper.
Based on the 11 p.m. bulletin issued by state weather bureau PAGASA, the typhoon was last spotted 375 kilometer east northeast of Tuguegarao City, Cagayan.
Moving northwestward at 15 kilometer per hour (kph), the weather disturbance was packing maximum sustained winds of 130 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 160 kph.IMT
