The Iloilo City Government’s Task Force on Moral Values and Formation (TFMVF) has reminded taxi drivers of the existing ordinance prohibiting minors from entering accommodation establishments.
TFMVF Nestor Canong said they already visited taxi companies in the city to discuss Regulation Ordinance No. 2025-447, which aims to protect youngsters from sexual exploitation and other abuses.
Under the ordinance, lodging houses, pension houses, inns, hotels, motels, apartelles and other similar establishments are barred from accepting those below 18 years old.
According to Canong, he is counting on the support and cooperation of taxi drivers as well as the City Police Office and barangay officials.
He advised teenagers to reflect on Valentine’s Day, Feb. 14, which coincides with Ash Wednesday, the start of the 40-day Lenten season.
Canong also appealed to parents to monitor their children’s activities to safeguard their welfare.IMT
