Islas de Gigantes or the Gigantes group of islands in Carles, Iloilo saw an increase in the number of visitors in April this year.
Based on data from the town’s tourism office, the group of islands welcomed 10,063 tourists last month, higher compared to 9,459 arrivals in March.
Of the latest figure, 10,872 were local tourists and 929 were international visitors.
For the first four months of 2024, the islands accommodated a total of 31,472 tourists. January accounted for 6,037 visitors, while February contributed 5,913 visitors.
Gigantes is consist of 13 islands and islets with pristine beaches and beautiful rock formations. It takes almost four hours to get there from Iloilo City.
On the other hand, Boracay Island in Malay, Aklan experienced a decline in tourist arrivals in April.
The world-famous island resort logged a total of 182,647 visitors, data from the Malay Tourism Office showed.
The figure — consisting of 145,455 local tourists, 1,623 overseas Filipinos, and 35,569 foreign tourists— was lower compared to 191,326 tourists recorded in March.IMT
