A member of Mayor Jerry Treñas’ administrative staff is the latest coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) fatality in Iloilo City.
“I have an admin staff who died this morning (June 1) due to COVID-19,” Treñas said in a statement.
According to the mayor, the female staffer underwent swab testing last Friday, May 28, after experiencing symptoms of COVID-19.
“Gin-admit [sya] kay positive kag napatay. She’s just in her 30s,” said Treñas.
Based on the June 2 bulletin issued by the Department of Health (DOH-6), the city recorded 205 COVID-19 deaths, the third highest in Western Visayas after Negros Occidental (284) and Bacolod City (258).
Last week, all City Hall employees were swabbed and more than a hundred of them yielded positive test results.IMT
