Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas has no idea when the controversial flyover that connects Jaro district to Pavia town will become passable again.
In a Facebook post, Treñas urged the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) to “give a definite statement” on the repair and reopening of the P680-million Ungka Flyover
“The residents of Iloilo City have long been waiting for this infrastructure to be made passable so that it will ease traffic congestion especially during the holiday season,” he said.
“I have given strict instructions to Jeck Conlu of PSTMO (Public Safety and Transportation Management Office) to assist in the management of the traffic especially in the city portion of the approach of the flyover,” the mayor added.
The defective flyover was temporarily closed to traffic last Sept 18, just two weeks after it was opened.IMT
