Mayor Jerry Treñas commended the Philippine National Police (PNP) operatives for the arrest of 32 drug suspects and the confiscation of P918,000 worth of shabu in a buy-bust operation conducted on January 25 in Barangay Bakhaw, Mandurriao district, Iloilo City.
“I commend the PNP operatives who conducted a buy-bust at Bakhaw which resulted in the arrest of several persons and confiscation of a big haul of suspected shabu,” said Treñas.
He added “Let is continue to make Iloilo City safe.”
A police report said that the main subjects of the buy bust operation were siblings Alony and Elmer Tribo, who were classified as high value individuals. Both are residents of the village.
On the other hand, while the mayor expressed happiness with the results of the operation, he was also concerned about the number of arrests and the volume of drugs recovered at the same place where it was said to be operating several years ago.
He called on the PNP leadership to be on the highest alert on the matter. “Otherwise, we return to where we were before,” said Treñas.
On a separate FB post, Treñas directed the PNP to conduct mobile check points on the streets and reported drug infested barangays.
“Anti-drug operations should be continuous,” he said
He also ordered them to stop all the illegal gambling operations after expressing concern that there are still operations of “pula puti” game.JBG/laf/PIA6-Iloilo
