Iloilo City’s Dinagyang Festival is joining this year’s Aliwan Fiesta, the biggest gathering of cultural festivals in the country.
The festival will be represented by Tribu Paghidaet of La Paz National High School.
Paghidaet is this year’s grand champion of the Dinagyang 360° Tribe Competition.
The participation of Dinagyang in the annual Aliwan Fiesta in April was announced by Mayor Jerry Treñas on Friday, Feb. 14.
According to Treñas, a total of P4 million has been alloted for the festival’s participation.
“Ang P1 million mahalin sa city government, mahalin ang isa pa guid ka P1 million sa provincial government, kag ang P2 million mahalin sa Iloilo Festivals Foundation, Inc (IFFI),” he said.
IFFI is the new organizer of Dinagyang. It replaced the Iloilo Dinagyang Foundation, Inc. (IDFI).
Last year, the festival did not join Aliwan. In 2018, Dinagyang, which was represented by Tribu Panayanon, placed only third in the competition.
Meanwhile, Miss Iloilo 2020 1st runner-up Kheshapornam Empedrad Ramachandran will represent the festival in the Aliwan Fiesta Queen pageant.IMT
