Mayor Jerry P. Treñas was disgusted over the photos of three half-naked boys ordering meals at a fast food restaurant inside a mall in Mandurriao district, Iloilo City.
“Indi lang ko gusto nga may amo ni nga gakatabo sa aton. First, ginapakahuy-an mo (ang mga bata),” Treñas said in media interview on Thursday, Sept. 26.
The mayor described the incident, which took place last Saturday, Sept. 21, as “disturbing.”
“I don’t think this thing should happen in a civilized society,” he said.
The photos were uploaded by Quennie Verde, one of the restaurant customers.
“Sa pagkabati ko daw social experiment kuno. Required sa school nila. May upod sila nga cameraman,” the uploader told IMT NEWS.
The photos went viral with thousands of likes and shares.
“If you want to do a social experiment, I think the professors should do it first to show nga kaya man nila ang social experiment. If they want, I will ask them to do the social experiment here in city hall, in my office,” Treñas said.
The mayor ordered Task Force on Moral and Values Formation head Nestor Canong to investigate the incident.
“What is bothersome and alarming is were reports that the three individuals involved in the incidents are senior high school (SHS) students of Western Institute of Technology (WIT),” Treñas said.
The three, who have been tagged as “tuwalya boys” by netizens, were wearing only bath towels around their waists.
“They were attended and served by by the subject restaurant crew as if there was nothing unusual on the appearance of the three customers,” Treñas said.
“We don’t want to have incident like this again,” the mayor stressed.
Treñas sent letters to WIT president Engr. Richard S. Salas, SHS principal Jo Anne Badrina and McDonald’s operations manager Delmar A. Lozano.
“If your office has conducted an in-house investigation of the incident, please provide us with the highlights of your findings and the actions taken by the Mc Donlas’s Restaurant Management on the aforesaid incident,” Treñas told Lozano.IMT
