Mayor Jerry Treñas has appealed to the public to help keep Iloilo City “clean and beautiful” amid reports that many structures in the metropolis were vandalized.
In a Facebook post, Treñas said it has come to his attention that “there has been many cases of vandalism in our city premises.”
The post was accompanied by photos of a bridge full of vandals.
“As the father of the City, it saddens me that in our every effort to make the city clean, and beautiful, some intends to ruin it through vandalizing,” said Treñas.
“Ginapangabay ko guid nga tipigan naton tanan ang aton mga gamit kag mga establishments sa aton cuidad. Gintinguha-an guid namon nga mapanami ini kag kinahanglan naton magbuligay sa pagmaintain sini,” he added.
The city has an existing ordinance that penalizes those who will be caught “writing, drawing, painting, marking or inscribing on any public property or private property.”IMT
