Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas believes that Ilongga beauty queen Rabiya Mateo has a strong chance of bringing home the country’s fifth Miss Universe crown.
The 24-year-old stunner from Iloilo City is the Philippines’ official representative to the Miss Universe 2020 pageant.
Treñas appealed to the people of Iloilo to support Mateo’s stint in the upcoming 69th edition of the prestigious beauty pageant.
“Buligan ta guid si Rabiya Mateo para sa iya nga pag-vie sa Miss Universe. Magpangamuyo kita kag magsuporta kita sa tanan ya nga ubra para makit-an niya man nga ara guid kita sa likod niya,” the mayor said.
“Ginadala ya ang Miss Philippines but she also came from Miss Iloilo, amo na nga kung diin man iya malab-utan, she brings pride to Iloilo City,” he continued.
Mateo arrived in Los Angeles, California in the United States on Saturday, April 10, to take part in some pre-pageant activities.
She vowed to do everything to win the title.
“Ipinapangako ko po na gagawin ko po lahat ng posibleng gawin para maiuwi ulit natin ang korona sa bayan.Mahal ko kayo at please po, ipaagdasal niyo ako at suportahan sa laban na ito,”she said.
The coronation will be held in Hollywood, Florida on May 16 (May 17 morning in the Philippines).IMT
