Mayor Jerry P. Treñas and other Iloilo City Government officials will get themselves vaccinated first against the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) to allay fears of their constituents.

“I, together with our Iloilo City Officials, will submit ourselves first for Covid-19 vaccination to show that there is nothing to worry about,” said Treñas.

“This is also a way to gain confidence and revive our economy,” the mayor added.

Last month, the city government sealed a deal with AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals Philippines Inc. for the advance purchase of COVID-19 vaccines.

“Ginpili guid sang aton mga eksperto ang AztraZeneca vaccine bangud sa effectivity rate sini,” said Treñas.

The mayor stressed that vaccines do not necessarily prevent the transmission of the coronavirus but could protect those who received the shots against the deadly disease.

“Paagi sa pagvaccine sang aton mga pumuluyo, mas mapanubo ang tsyansa nga maospital kag mahilayo sa kamatayon,” said Treñas.IMT
