Iloilo City Mayor Treñas, who has been out of the public eye for days now, is in “good condition,” according to his son, Councilor Miguel Treñas.

“All is well,” Miguel said in a report by radio station Bombo Radyo-Iloilo.

Rumors have been circulating that the 67-year-old mayor had been admitted to a hospital in Taguig City due to pneumonia.

The city government on Tuesday, Oct. 1, released a copy of Memorandum Order (MO) No. 304 designating Vice Mayor Jeffrey Ganzon as acting mayor.

Based on the MO, Ganzon will act and assume the position from Sept. 28 “until Treñas’ return and formal resumption of office.”

“The acting mayor shall discharge the functions and responsibilities of the Office of the City Mayor to ensure the continuous and unhampered services of our constituents,” the MO stated.

Dated, Sept. 27, the MO was signed by City Administrator Melchor Tan by authority of the mayor.

Treñas, who is gunning for his final term, and his team are expected to file their certificates of candidacy (COCs) on Oct. 8.IMT
