Mayor Jerry Treñas on Wednesday, Oct. 9, assured residents that he is “doing well and on the path to a full recovery.”
“If it were up to me, I would already be back to work. However, following my doctor’s advice, I need to take some time to fully recover before returning to my duties as Mayor of Iloilo City,” Treñas said in a statement released to media by his spokesperson Joy Fantilaga.
Treñas underwent a bile duct operation while he was in Manila late last month.
In a previous interview, the mayor’s daughter Raisa Treñas-Chu said her father decided to undergo a check-up while they were waiting for the convention of the National Unity Party.
A further test showed he had a block on his bile duct.
“It’s a normal procedure,” she said.
Vice Mayor Jeffrey Ganzon and Councilor Sedfrey Cabaluna are currently serving as acting mayor and vice mayor, respectively.
“Rest assured, I will be back very soon, ready to continue serving the people of our beloved city,” Treñas added.Perla Lena/PNA
