The office of Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas has requested an intelligence fund for next year.
In a press conference, the chief executive said he proposed P18 million worth of intelligence fund under the 2024 budget of the city.
The amount, according to Treñas, will be used to boost the capabilities of the city’s police units in anti-criminality operations.
The mayor noted that the law allows the allocation of intelligence funds, which do not undergo the regular audit procedure.
Treñas said he is leaving it up to the Sangguniang Panlungsod to decide if his office will get the proposed intelligence fund.
The city is seeking a budget of P3.6 billion next year, higher by 21 percent compared to P2.953 billion this year.IMT
