Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas returned to office on Monday, Dec. 9, after taking a medical leave for almost three months.
“All the while, I thought I would never be able to come back after everything I had undergone. But by God’s grace, I am here today,” Treñas said.
“Thank you, Lord, for giving me another life and the strength to continue serving every Iloilo family,” he added.
The 67-year-old mayor underwent two bile duct operations at St. Luke’s Medical Center in Taguig City.
In a press conference, Treñas vowed to prioritize the completion of several key infrastructure projects, including the legislative building, government center and public markets.
He also reiterated that the city government remains committed to improving ease-of-doing business for the benefit of local enterprises.
Meanwhile, Treñas thanked Vice Mayor Jeffrey Ganzon for his “steadfast leadership in standing as the mayor of our city during my operation.”
“It was an honor to personally convey my thanks to him for ensuring the seamless delivery of services and maintaining the trust of the people of Iloilo City,” he said.IMT
