A 10-wheel truck hit the vertical overhead barrier installed at the controversial Ungka flyover on Tuesday afternoon, Dec. 24.
The incident occurred a day after the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) fully reopened the four-lane flyover to the public.
The truck driver was issued a citation ticket for entering the flyover that stretches from Barangay Ungka in Jaro district, Iloilo City to Barangay Ungka II in Pavia town.
Heavy vehicles as well as motorcycles, tricycles and bicycles are not allowed to pass through the 453.7-meter flyover, which is still undergoing repairs.
The flyover, costing almost P1 billion, was closed to motorists in September 2022 due to vertical displacement and partially reopened in September last year.IMT
