Iloilo Fifth District Representative Raul “Boboy” has vowed to continue pursuing measures and supporting programs intended to uplift the morale and welfare of policemen, soldiers and other uniformed personnel.

The Ilonggo lawmaker said uniformed personnel, who play a vital role in maintaining peace and security in the country, deserve adequate benefits and remuneration.

Tupas is one of the principal authors of Republic Act 11958 titled “An Act Rationalizing the Disability Pension of Veterans.”

The law increases the disability pension of military veterans and their dependents by 350 to 488 percent.

Tupas is also the author of Republic Act (RA) No. 12024 or the Self-Reliant Defense Posture (SRDP) Revitalization Act.

The law, which was signed by President Bongbong Marcos last month, aims to “bolster the country’s defense strategies through the strength of its own resources and capabilities.”

To encourage more civilians to join the uniformed service sector, Tupas authored Republic Act 11549 or the PNP, BFP, BJMP and BuCor Height Equality Act.

The law reduces the minimum height requirement for applicants to the Philippine National Police (PNP), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) and the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) from 5’4” to 5’2” for males and from 5’2’ to 5’ for females.

“Indi man ini pataas-taas kundi depende ini sa sulod sang imo tagipusuon kag imo kapasidad nga magserbisyo para sa pungsod,” Tupas stressed.

Currently, the congressman is pushing to further increase the salaries of uniformed personnel in recognition of their selfless service and sacrifice for the country.IMT
