Iloilo Fifth District Representative Raul “Boboy” Tupas has expressed desire to help the local government of Anilao improve its competitiveness.

Anilao, under the leadership of Mayor Lee Ann Debuque, ranked 243rd among municipalities in the nationwide 2024 Cities and Municipalities Competitiveness Index (CMCI).

Tupas said Anilao as well as other municipalities in the province that are lagging behind should be given more attention.

The three-term congressman, who is running for vice governor against Debuque in next year’s polls, stressed the leaders should work together instead of pulling each other down.

Meanwhile, Tupas commended the local governments of Barotac Viejo and Lemery for making it to the Top 10 Most Improved Third to Fourth Class Municipalities this year.

Barotac Viejo ranked eighth while Lemery ranked 9th. The two are part of the province’s Fifth District.

CMCI is a comprehensive assessment tool developed by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) to measure the competitiveness of local government units (LGUs) across five pillars.

The five pillars are Economic Dynamism, Government Efficiency, Infrastructure, Resiliency, and Innovation.IMT
