Former Iloilo City mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog withdrew his plan of making a political comeback in the 2025 midterm elections.

“I am making the ultimate sacrifice for Iloilo City. Indi ako magpadalagan mayor sang syudad sang Iloilo. Ngayo gid ako pasaylo bangud may word of honor ako,” Mabilog said during Team Gugma-Sulong’s proclamation rally at the University of San Agustin Gymnasium on Tuesday, Oct. 8.

“Panindugan ko ang akon  palabra de honor. I am no longer running for mayor of Iloilo City because I still have to rebuild myself,” he further said.

Mabilog endorsed Congresswoman Jamjam Baronda, who is seeking reelection, and all other candidates running under Team Gugma-Sulong.

The former mayor returned to the Philippines earlier last month after seven years of self-imposed exile in the United States.

He left the country in 2017 after he was baselessly accused by then-president Rodrigo Duterte of being a drug protector.IMT
