Iloilo City Jerry Treñas shared that one of his wishes this Christmas season is for the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) to “finally resolve the issues” related to Ungka and Aganan Flyovers.
“Those using the Aquino Avenue have been suffering and enduring heavy traffic in the area because of the present situation,” Treñas said.
“For the Ilonggos using the road, it is my Christmas wish and my hope that DPWH finally resolves the issues soon. It will be the best Christmas gift for the Ilonggos,” he further said.
The P680-million Ungka Flyover, which links the city to Pavia town, was closed to traffic on Sept. 18 this year to give way for repairs.
The temporary closure was implemented two weeks after the full opening of the “sinking” flyover.
The structural integrity of the P560-million Aganan Flyover in Pavia was also questioned. Town councilor Jose Maria Trimañez said some residents observed that a portion of the still ongoing flyover tilted slightly.
The two national projects are contracted to Iloilo-based International Builders Corp. (IBC).IMT
