Uswag Ilonggo, an Iloilo City-based party-list, is now accredited for the 2022 national and local elections.

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) Second Division granted the petition for registration and accreditation of Uswag Ilonggo Party-list as a regional political party.

The petition was filed by USWAG ILONGGO represented by its Secretary General Jeric J. Jucaban.

“…Petitioner exists in the provinces of Region specifically the provinces of Aklan, Antique, Capiz, Guimaras, and Iloilo and the city of Iloilo,” a COMELEC resolution penned by Comelec Presiding Officer Socorro B. Inting and Commissioner Antonio T. Kho Jr. read.

It added that the petitioner does not fall under any of the disqualifications set forth in Section 6 of Republic Act No. 7941 namely, among others, it is a religious sect or denomination, organization or association, organized for religious purposes; it advocates violence or unlawful means to seek its goal; and it is a foreign party or organization.

Meanwhile, the names of Ilonggo businessman Jojo Ang and Mayor Jerry P. Treñas’ daughter Raisa Treñas surfaced as probable nominees of the party-list.IMT
