Senator Joel Villanueva emphasized the need for accessible healthcare during the Tesdaman Medical Caravan in Norzagaray and Angat, Bulacan, on February 11.

In partnership with the Department of Health (DOH), the initiative aims to provide essential medical services, especially to seniors and individuals with pre-existing conditions.

“The goal is to make healthcare more accessible, especially for the indigent and financially incapacitated. By bringing medical services directly to communities, we are providing not just care but also hope,” according to Villanueva.

Through a partnership with local governments, all 24 Bulacan towns have received P4 million from the DOH Medical Assistance to Indigent and Financially Incapacitated Patients Program (MAIFIP).

Funds are allocated to Joni Villanueva General Hospital, assisting 500 beneficiaries per town with free lab tests and a one-month supply of essential medicines.

“The support for medical procedures and medicines will directly benefit those who need it most, especially senior citizens and those with chronic health conditions. It is important that we continue to look for innovative ways to support our fellow kababayans in need,” the senator said.

The Tesdaman Medical Caravan was officially launched in Plaridel on January 28 and Sta. Maria on January 30. Over the next two months, it will reach all remaining 20 Bulacan towns.

Villanueva also plans to expand the program nationwide to assist more indigent patients.IMT
