The impeachment of Vice President Sara Duterte will not impact the Philippine economy, according to President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
“I doubt it very much,” Marcos Jr. said when asked about potential economic effects.
“Wala naman akong nakikitang magiging effect na ganon,” he added.
The President stressed that the government remains committed to investment plans, strategies, and structural reforms.
“Yun lang naman ang tinitingnan ng investors, so I don’t think it will have any effect,” Marcos said.
At least 215 House members signed the impeachment complaint against Duterte-Carpio, sending it directly to the Senate for trial.
The complaint includes allegations of a conspiracy to assassinate Marcos Jr., First Lady Liza Marcos, and Speaker Martin Romualdez. Other charges involve the misuse of P612.5 million in confidential funds, bribery, corruption within the Department of Education, unexplained wealth, and failure to disclose assets.
The Vice President also faces allegations of extrajudicial killings, destabilization, insurrection, and public disorder.IMT
