Western Visayas expects more tourists in second half

The Department of Tourism (DOT-6) is expecting the number of tourists in Western Visayas (WV) to further increase in the second half of the year.

DOT-6 Regional Director Cristine Mansinares said several new tourist destinations opened in the region.

There are also big meetings and conferences scheduled in WV in the last six months of 2022.

The DOT-6 recorded a total of 1,020,313 local and foreign tourists from January to June this year.

The number was higher by 125 percent compared to the tourist arrivals logged in the same period a year ago.

Mansinares attributed the increase to the easement of travel restrictions.IMT
