Private sector workers in Western Visayas will receive higher salaries starting next month, according to the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).
The National Wages and Productivity Commission (NWPC), an attached agency of DOLE, affirmed an order granting a P30 increase in the daily minimum wage in the region.
The daily minimum wage rates will be P480 for non-agricultural/industrial/commercial establishments with more than 10 workers while P450 for those establishments with 10 workers or less, and P440 for workers in agriculture.
“In the determination of the minimum wage, the [Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board] has accordingly taken into consideration the various socio-economic criteria under Republic Act No. 6727 and complied with procedures laid down in the Omnibus Rules on Minimum Wage Determination,” Wage Order No. RBVI-27 stated.
Kasambahays or domestic workers in the region will also get an increase of P500, bringing their monthly minimum wage rate to P5,000 from P4,500.
The increases, which cover the provinces of Aklan, Antique, Capiz, Guimaras, Iloilo and Negros Occidental and the highly urbanized cities of Iloilo and Bacolod, will take effect on Nov. 16.IMT
